All-White Kitchen Wins Room of the Year at BALA

Bold yet timeless and sleek but functional, our Lake Tibet kitchen remodel and its striking, all-white features earned Winter Park custom home builder, Phil Kean Design Group, the “Room of the Year” recognition at the 2013 Best in American Living Awards. Developed with both style and practicality in mind, this kitchen incorporated one of today’s biggest trends: the all-white interior.

The Contemporary Trend

The monochromatic appeal of an all-white kitchen has emerged as one of 2014’s most sought after styles, and for good reason. Clean lines, solid colors and quartz slab accents create an instantly sleek and contemporary atmosphere while retaining a classic, timeless allure. Finished off with modern hardware and ample counterspace, the trend shines a light on this kitchen’s best features while remaining 100 percent functional and ready to take on extensive food prep.

Wanting to infuse the luxe feel of an all-white interior into a fitting environment, our team of modern home builders and designers developed and constructed this legendary space within an Orlando, Florida home. Alongside the “Room of the Year” Award, this remodel also earned a Platinum Award in the $100,000 and Over Kitchens category.

“Phil Kean is an exemplary representative of the home building industry.  He has been a pacesetter in leading-edge design and has shown commitment to excellence in “green” building”, says Scott Merritt, CEO of the Home Builders’ Association of Metro Orlando.  “Phil deserves this recognition due to his positive leadership, integrity and professionalism as an architect and builder, and generosity to the industry and community.”

Based in Winter Park, FL, Kean has been in business for over 11 years.  His success is due his innovative architecture, sustainable construction, and great customer service.  Kean’s firm, Phil Kean Design Group (PKDG), built the first LEED Gold certified home in Central Florida and the highest scoring FGBC (Florida Green Building Coalition) certified home in 2012.  His homes have won national and international awards and have been featured in publications such as Florida DesignRobb Report and in custom home publications in countries including Brazil, China, Hungary and India.

PKDG was chosen by the NAHB to be the Architect, Builder and Interior Designer for The 2012 New American Home, built in Winter Park, FL.  The home was toured by more than 8,000 visitors during the 2012 International Builders Show held in Orlando, FL.  Kean is also involved in the NAHB Custom Builder 20 Club and serves on the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council Board of Trustees.  Locally Kean serves as the President of Orlando’s Master Custom Builder Council, on the City of Winter Park’s Board of Adjustments and on the city of Lake Nona’s Review Board.

Kean is not only an inspiration to the building industry, he is also a testament to the notion that builders do much more than just build beautiful homes.  Kean serves on the University of Central Florida’s Foundation Board of Directors, donated his architectural services and consultation to a 2013 St. Jude Dream Home built in San Antonio, TX, and has donated architectural and construction services to Orlando’s non-profit charitable organization, Zebra Coalition.

The NAHB Custom Home Builder of the Year Award, sponsored by Sherwin-Williams, recognizes the professional achievement of one builder who creates year after year exceptional and innovative custom homes, exhibits a high level of customer service and demonstrates positive leadership within their company, the industry and community.
